Iwahig
This lady friend of mine was a longtime Technician/Operator from my previous work. She was already in her 30's when she resigned from work to get married & settle down with her husband.
Her husband wanted to start a sugpo/fish-farming business and was able to secure a spot somewhere in Iwahig, Palawan ..... I cant recall whether her husband owned or rented the place.
Iwahig is best known as the site of a penal colony housing minimum-security prisoners.
It's said to be more farm than prison .... also, it's located in a remote area, hence prisoner escapes are unlikely.
Anyways, my friend & her husband's sugpo/fish-farm was in a very remote spot accesible through a small town. As soon they arrived, very strange things occured:
** When they first passed through the small town, a few of the locals would look at them in a very strange way .... in my friends words "parang galit na naninindak".
** During night time, they would hear animal-like sounds circling around their small nipa-hut (by the way, that particular area has no electricity).
** As the days passed, the sounds got louder & closer to their hut; often accompanied by a very foul smell. Again in my friends words "amoy nabubulok na karne".
** The few times they went to town, the same few locals still looked at them the same way.
** By this time, my friend's husband was getting peeved & was fully aware of what was happening. They were being targetted by a group of aswang.
** It got to the point that the husband got so mad, that he would step out of the house at night to shout abuse & challenges to whoever was out there ex. sometimes they would see figures in the distance.
At times, the husband would even wander off to the forests for days, seemingly in a hunt for aswangs (yes, my brave friend was left alone by her brave husband at times).
For whatever reason, the harrasment soon decreased until one day it totally stopped.
Unfortunately, their farm did not succeed. My friend told me that sugpo-fry were very susceptible to disease & often easily die.
They soon returned to Laguna - with my friend returning back to our old company. She has since resigned again, to devote her time being a mother & a housewife.
